CONCORD, NH: Edwin Everett Ricker, 96, of Concord, NH passed away Thursday, February 2, 2023 at Havenwood Heritage Heights in Concord, NH.
Edwin was born January 8, 1927 in Quincy, MA.to Roscoe R. and Wilhelmina (Laing) Ricker. He was also predeceased by one brother and three sisters.
A veteran of World War II, Edwin served in the Navy before attending the University of New Hampshire. After graduation he worked as a salesman for the Ralston Purina Co. before beginning his career at Concord National Bank in 1957. He started as a teller and worked in many areas including the installment loan department, trust department and finally retiring as Commercial Loan Officer and Assistant Vice President after almost 30 years with the bank.
He was active in community affairs, having been a member of the Chamber of Commerce, Kiwanis, NH June Dairy Association and the International 4-H Youth Exchange.
As a Justice of the Peace, he performed wedding ceremonies including one on the summit of Mt. Chocorua, another in the middle of Lake Sunapee and also for both his granddaughters, Melissa and Felicia.
Edwin enjoyed the outdoors and was a member of the Appalachian Mountain Club. He climbed all the forty eight 4000 foot high peaks in NH.
Enjoyment of music took up some of his time. He enjoyed square and round dancing. He played drums in the UNH Alumni Band, Hopkinton Town Band, Hillsboro Community Band and a local dance band where concerts were played at nursing homes, hospitals, Old Home days, dances and fairs.
He was very good at photography and had his own darkroom equipment to process his color prints which have been displayed in exhibits and some sold for calendars. He owned a custom framing business called the Village Frame Shop and was always busy with customers.
Edwin is survived by his wife Ruth L. (Hodges) Ricker of Concord, NH. They celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary on June 14th, 2022. Edwin is also survived by daughter, Nancy Muir of Phoenix, AZ, son, Gary Ricker of Merrimack, NH, brother, Richard Ricker of Rockledge, FL, granddaughters, Melissa Ricker of Hudson, NH and Felicia Webster of Manchester, NH and a great-granddaughter and great-grandson.
Services will be held later in the summer in Contoocook, NH.
The Holt-Woodbury Funeral Home in Hillsboro, NH is assisting the family.
