HENNIKER, NH:  Rachel T. Paul passed to her eternal rest of our Lord and Savior on October 13, 2022.  An amazing and caring wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend who never forgot anyone’s birthdays or anniversaries. 

Rachel was born on August 10, 1926 to the late Henri and Yvonne (Guevin) Aucoin. Rachel Iived her entire life in Henniker, NH as the eldest of fourteen children.  At the age of ten, Rachel became a second mother to five of the younger siblings to help her parents. She joined a Catholic pen pal club as a teenager and maintained some lifelong relationships. One of the pen pals that she started writing to was Isadore M. J. Paul whom she later married in 1956.

Rachel and Isadore raised their family on a farm in Henniker where Rachel drove the local school bus for 41 years. She also taught preschool for a time, sold Amway products, volunteered at many church functions and for her sister’s mission sale for the people of Cartago Columbia.

Rachel was a lifelong communicant of St. Theresa’s Roman Catholic Church, her strong faith in God and her prayers were well appreciated by all. 

Rachel enjoyed camping with her sisters, brothers, children, and anyone who wanted to join the fun. Her other favorite pastimes included going to and putting on yard sales, playing cards and bingo with family members. She loved listening to music and watching old movies and especially EWTN. Rachel also loved her painting and cooking.

Rachel was predeceased by her husband of 35 years, Isadore M. J. Paul, her brothers, Martial, Herve and Richard, her sister, Pauline Everts and a loved sister-in-law, Doris.  

She is survived by her siblings, Claire, Delores, Raymond, Jean Paul and Lorraine Aucoin, Georgette Beaudette and her husband, Bertrand, Jeanette Herrick, Robert and his wife, Jan, Albert and his wife, Lorraine, her children, Marie Gervacio and her partner, Russell Perkins, Michael and his wife, Marie, David and his wife, Suzanne, Pamela Donoghue and her husband, Tim, Francis and his wife, Susan, Rosanne Emerson and her husband, Roy, Norman and his wife, Sis, Peter and his wife, Nora and Patrick and his wife Julie.

Rachel loved and was well loved by her twelve grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, October 22, 2022 at 11 am at St. Theresa’s Church, 158 Old Hopkinton Rd, Henniker, NH. Calling hours will be from 10 am to 11am before the service in St. Theresa’s Church.

Burial will follow in Henniker New Cemetery, Henniker, NH.
