HENNIKER, NH:  June Ruth (Buxton) Wentworth passed away on June 20, 2022, at the age of 84.  Born on June 6, 1938, she was the sixth child of Leonard P. and Annie (Davison) Buxton. 

A graduate of Henniker High School, she and her first husband, Duane Bishop, settled in Henniker to raise their two children. In addition to her primary role as homemaker, she also worked for New England College, Jordan-Milton Machinery, and for many years as a legal attorney at the law firm of Ransmeier and Spellman.

She married William Wentworth in 1980 and the two of them resided first in Hopkinton, NH and later in Upton, MA. While together, they enjoyed traveling, entertaining and, above all else, spending time with their grandchildren. Upon William’s death in 1995, June returned to Henniker for several years before moving to Hooksett, NH.

An avid reader and crafter, June also found pleasure in music, decorating; baking, seeing her extended family at frequent, large gatherings and corresponding with friends and relatives. A constant and loving presence in the lives of her grandchildren, one of her greatest joys was attending countless sporting events, school plays, award ceremonies and graduations where she always deemed her grandchildren to have been the best-behaved, most-deserving and hardest workers involved, an opinion about which she would brook no argument. 

Predeceased by her husband William as well as her five siblings, June leaves behind her children, Russ and Danielle Bishop of Peterborough and Dianne and Ed Emerson of Rochester, three grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews for whom she always had great affection. 

There will be an opportunity for friends and relatives to gather in memory of June on Saturday, July 2, at the Holt-Woodbury Funeral Home in Hillsboro, NH from 2:00 to 4:00 pm.
