WASHINGTON, NH: Geraldine Sue McQuade, 79, of Washington, NH, died February 8, 2022, at Concord Hospital after a brief illness.
Always known as “Sue” (and never “Gerri”), she was born June 7, 1942, in Peterborough to the late Evelyn Mae (Kearns) and Franklin Wheeler Edwards. She was raised in Wilton.
Sue was active in her local community as a longtime choir member at Congregational churches in Wilton and Washington, where she moved in 1983. She was a volunteer EMT with the ambulance services in both towns. More recently, Sue was involved in her local Senior Citizens’ Centers and the Crafty Critters crafting group. She adored crocheting, cooking, gardening, and looking after her cats.
Sue attended St. Joseph’s School of Nursing and worked as a nurse at St. Joseph Hospital and in the Concord area. After obtaining a bachelor’s degree in business administration, she was employed by Sylvania and Frame Works in Hillsborough for several years.
Sue is survived by her children, Thomas M. Staiti (Jackie) of Wilton, David A. Staiti (Dawn) of Antrim, Cynthia M. Proctor (William) of Hopkinton, MA, and Christine M. Staiti of Arlington, MA, a sister, Claire E. Berwick (Andrew) of Milford, nine grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her second husband, Clyde E. McQuade and a sister, Linda M. Foster Gaffey.
Services will be held Sunday, May 1, 2022 at 1 pm in the Washington Congregational Church in Washington, NH, follow be a burial in Center Cemetery in Washington, NH.
