Funeral home services for Henniker NH

HENNIKER, NH:  Deborah (Deb) Anne Nitzschke, age 55, suddenly passed away in her sleep while at home in Henniker during the early morning hours of December 31, 2022.

Born on June 11, 1967, Deb was a native of Chittenango, New York.

In terms of academic achievement, Deb received a Bachelor of Arts, majoring in Political Science (summa cum laude) from the State University of New York at Albany (SUNYA) in 1989 and earned a Masters In Public Administration from SUNYA in 1991.

Deb relocated from upstate New York in 1992 to accept a position as an auditor with the State of New Hampshire. In 1994, Deb found her true calling and a became a Certified Financial Planner (CFP) with Ameriprise Financial. During her twenty-eight-year career as a CFP, Deb continued her commitment to education, to best serve her clients by earning multiple financial certifications including estate planning/settlement, Certification For Long-Term Care (CLTC), and numerous others.

For approximately twenty years, Deb worked from her office located at 26 Western Avenue in downtown Henniker. Over her extraordinary career, Deb assisted thousands of clients to realize their financial goals and she genuinely considered her clients as extended family.

Among many of Deb’s passions, two stand out: service to others/community and the love of the outdoors. Examples of her commitment to the community include volunteering as a ski instructor, Girl Scout Troop Leader, Rotarian, and offering free financial planning advice to those who were unable to afford it.

As an avid outdoors person, Deb enjoyed skiing, camping, biking, kayaking, water skiing, and a sunset cruise in her motorboat to watch the loons living on Long Pond. Deb’s love of the outdoors, and especially the water, developed during her childhood because of several camping/boating adventures on Saranac Lake – located in New York State’s Adirondack Park – with her parents and brother.

A notable third passion emerged when Deb became involved in Tae Kwon Do. She trained in the Korean martial art for 10 years and earned her 1st Degree Black Belt through the Kukkiwon World Taekwondo Headquarters in 2015. Deb had the utmost respect for the strength, discipline, and beauty that comes from this martial art, and especially loved how Tae Kwon Do brought her and her daughters (both 3rd Degree Black Belts) together as a family even when they were far apart.

Among all her numerous personal and professional accomplishments, Deb would just glow with pride knowing she was able to pass both her passions for community service and the outdoors to her daughters.

Deb is survived by two daughters, Kathryn of Burlington, VT, and Jessica of Henniker, her loving parents, Eleanor and Michael Suhey of Meredith, older brother, Michael Suhey, Jr., and his family, including her niece, nephew, and sister in-law of Horseheads, NY.   She is also survived by her friend, Tony Mattrazzo of Albany, NY, and her beloved dog Bella Boo.

The Holt-Woodbury Funeral Home & Cremation Service is assisting the family.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Deb’s memory to the Loon Preservation Committee of NH. See the "GoFundMe" here: https://gofund.me/0c62c0e0
