ANTRIM, NH: Gayle M. Contraros, 72, a resident of Antrim, NH, died at her home on August 1, 2019 after a period of declining health.
She was born on October 12, 1946 in Cambridge, MA, a daughter of the late Thomas and Emily (Choquette) MacKinnon. She graduated from Brighton High School and went right into the work force to help her mother support the family, as her father passed away suddenly.
In 1966 she met James Contraros and together they married in 1968. They resided for many years in Chester, NH where they ran their business and were active in the community.
Together they moved to Antrim, NH in 2006 and called this area their new home. Gayle had many hobbies, they included gardening, reading, traveling, and most importantly being with her family, especially her many nieces and nephews who she viewed as her own children.
In addition to her parents, Gayle was predeceased by a sister, Judy MacKinnon.
Survivors include her loving husband, James, her sisters and brother-in-law, Barbara and George Ringland and Paula Hunter, her nieces and nephews, Kristen Chase, Kerry Breen, Eric Ringland and Michael Ringland and many close friends.
SERVICES: In accordance with her wishes, there will be no public services held. Following cremation, burial will be held in Great Hill Cemetery, Chester, NH.
Holt-Woodbury Funeral Home of Hillsboro and Henniker is assisting the family with arrangements.
