ANTRIM, NH: Geraldine Ann (Demers) Rabideau, 84, of Antrim, died Saturday, December 8, 2018, at Catholic Medical Center. She passed peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, following a long fight. She was predeceased by her husband, Charles Fabian Rabideau and sons, Charles Gerald I and Charles Gerald II.

She was born at home in Everett, MA, on September 21, 1934.  Geraldine was predeceased by her parents, Gerald A. and Madeline E. (Wixtead) Demers.

Geraldine attended St. Joseph’s Grammar School in Everett, MA and high school at Our Lady of Pity Cambridge, MA.

During her lifetime, Geraldine worked at the 5 & Dime in Boston, MA, was a long distant operator for an apparel company in Cambridge, MA, and at Hawthorne College in Antrim, NH in the cafeteria and student union for 10 years after her children were in school. She was a former secretary for the NH Sheep Breeders and a lifetime member of the NH Sheep and Wool Growers Association.  Being a Communicant of Divine Mercy Parish, and previously a member of Saint Patrick’s Church in Bennington, were very important to her. Geraldine was a devout Catholic, whose faith carried her through difficult times.  Other organizations she belonged to include the Divine Mercy Women’s Guild and a member of the Antrim Historical Society.

Charles and Geraldine were married in 1954 and moved to Antrim the same year. Then they moved to the farm in 1956 where she has lived since then.  Both loved the farm and family they created. 

Geraldine is survived by her loving children, Thomas Rabideau and his wife Ruth Ann of Pittsburg, IL, Suzette Edick and her husband, Michael of Dublin, Michele Rabideau of Antrim, Renée Rabideau of Antrim, Matthew Rabideau and his wife, Wendy of Penacook, and Bernadette Todd and her husband Ernie of Antrim.

She is survived by her loving grandchildren, Shawn, Amanda, Emily, Chad, Phillip, Christopher, Michael, Jeffery, Timothy, and Rosalie.  Her great-grandchildren include Gabriella, Chloe, and Grace. She leaves her brother, Vincent Demers, of Bedford, NH, sister, Julia Lemay of Nashua, NH, sister, Jacqueline Smigielski of W Kingston, RI, sister-in-law, Maryellen Anastasia of Plymouth, MA as well as nieces, nephews, and many dear friends.

She spent many summers driving her children to all the New Hampshire fairs where they participated in the 4-H sheep shows.  Geraldine and her husband chaperoned many years for 4-H’ers at the Eastern States Expo. She loved vacationing with Renée and Michele in PEI Canada each year.  

Calling hours will be held at Divine Mercy Parish 12 Church Street, Peterborough, NH on Friday, Dec. 14, at 1 pm followed by a Christian Mass at 2:00 pm. A graveside burial will be held at a future date at Mount Calvary Cemetery in Bennington, NH.

The Holt-Woodbury Funeral Home & Cremation Service Hillsboro, NH is assisting the family.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Geraldine’s name can be made to the Divine Mercy Women’s Guild in Peterborough.
