HILLSBORO, NH:  Elizabeth "Betsy" Hatfield died peacefully at her home at Hillsboro House surrounded by family, caregivers, and friends, on December 22, 2018. Betsy was born November 5, 1939, and was preceded in death by her parents, Elizabeth "Betty" and Douglas Hatfield. She is survived by her siblings, Douglas Hatfield and his wife Judith, Robert Hatfield and his wife Margaret, and Susan Hatfield and her husband David Collier.  She also leaves many nieces and nephews.

Betsy was born in Plainfield, NJ, but lived most of her life in Peterborough, NH. She graduated from the Maplebrook School in Amenia, NY, and then worked several years at Gates Manufacturing company in Peterborough.  She also worked at Crotched Mountain Rehabilitation Center in Greenfield, NH.  After her mother's death in 1991, Betsy moved to Hillsborough to The Maples, then to Mapleleaf Village and for the past 8 years resided at Hillsboro House.  While in Hillsborough, she was an enthusiastic volunteer at the St. Joseph's Meals on Wheels program.  Betsy was also an active member of the Smith Memorial Congregational Church, UCC, where she enjoyed being a "Deborah" and taking part in many of the church activities.

A memorial service celebrating Betsy's life will be held on Tuesday, January 8, at 2:00 pm, at the Smith Memorial Church on West Main Street, Hillsborough, NH.
