HILLSBORO, NH:  Victor Schmid was born January, 1930 in Oberegg, AI, in Switzerland. He passed away suddenly at home on December 23, 2017.  

Victor was educated and trained in Switzerland as a precision technician. He was employed by Wild Heerbrugg, a manufacturer of surveying and optical equipment. He transferred to the U.S. in 1957, and moved with his wife and young son to Long Island, NY.  Victor later became a U.S. citizen and years later moved to Hillsborough, NH to start his own company. They built a home on a hill in the woods overlooking a lake, and took great joy in visiting with family and friends, tending their gardens, enjoying the land and all the animals that enriched their lives.  

He is survived by his beloved wife and constant companion, Trudy Schmid, son Silvio (Amy) Schmid, daughter Susan (Jim) Walker, brother Guido (Beatrice) Schmid, and grandchildren Forest, Steven, Katherine, Brook, Bryce and Alison.  

Victor attended Smith Memorial Church in Hillsborough, NH. He was on the board for the historic Union Chapel, and was a member of the Lions Club and of the New Hampshire Swiss Club.  

A service of celebration and remembrance is planned for the Spring of 2018.
