FREDERICK, PA: Calliope Bavelas, 84 of Frederick, PA, passed peacefully in her sleep on August 27th, 2017.
She is survived by her children, Katina Trendell of Myrtle Beach, SC, Arthur Bavelas of New York, NY, Aphrodite Kunkle of Limerick, PA and her sister Aphrodite Devolites of Phoenix, AZ. She also leaves in her memory eight grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and her sister-in-law Anna Tavoularis of Kittery, ME.
Calliope was a skilled administrative clerk at The Institutes of Malvern, PA for over 15 years. Upon retirement, she focused her energies on volunteering. She passionately and enthusiastically gave her time to St. Sophia’s in Jeffersonville, PA and Meals on Wheels in Pottstown, PA. As a final act of care, Calliope spent her time caring for others in the Frederick Living Aspen Memory Unit, where she eventually resided.
Throughout her life, Calliope was an active member of a bowling team, and would spend many hours cooking Greek meals for her family. She was a lover of assembling puzzles with her grandchildren, as well as a master jax player, andWAS talented at cross stitching and knitting.
For the celebration of her life, services will be held at 11 am Saturday, September 2nd at the Bennington Congregational Church in Bennington, NH.
